Summary: | This book seeks to fill a gap in scholarly work on epistemology by grounding the discussion in biblical texts and indeed asking what various genres of biblical text might contribute to the wider discussion of knowledge, notably in this case, knowledge of God. The volume consists of nine contributions from both Protestant and Catholic biblical scholars. It does not seek to be exhaustive in its biblical coverage, but takes a sample of certain texts to discuss. O’Dowd in ‘Memory on the Boundary: Epistemology in Deuteronomy’ demonstrates convincingly how Deuteronomy takes Pentateuchal history and transforms it into ‘an oral and written tradition for actualization in future generations’ (p. 5). |
