Riepilogo: | Willard Smartley is a Mennonite scholar, and some parts of his book explicitly continue discussions that have taken place primarily in the publications of fellow Mennonites. But he has also read widely in the whole field of New Testament exegesis, indeed his book betrays almost excessive anxiety to do justice to others who have addressed the same topics. A more concise version of it might serve the needs better of both teachers and students., Swartley's project is to promote the concept of ‘peace’ as an organizing principle in New Testament theology and ethics. For this purpose he analyses all the main categories of NT writings and argues that ‘peace’ has been unduly neglected as a prevalent theme in all of them. |
