It consists of a detailed examination of those texts within the books of Malachi, Haggai, Zechariah 1–8, and Isaiah 56–66 which the author deems to be relevant to her theme of the post-exilic prophetic criticisms of the Jerusalem priesthood. However, throughout, she also demonstrates how similar attacks in some pre-exilic prophetic books show that the later prophets were drawing on earlier traditions., An initial survey of the history of research in the area is followed by an extended chapter defining the borders of those passages Tiemeyer believes refer mainly to the priests, passages whose dating she considers in a second chapter.
