Description
Summary:Much ink has been spilt over the authorship of the Mystagogical Catecheses (MC) but little new evidence has been brought to bear on the debate since W. J. Swaans's comprehensive article in Le Muséon 55 (1942). Alexis Doval attempts here to inject some freshness into the stale arguments by introducing computer-assisted stylometric analysis to assist the demonstration of Cyrilline authorship. It is well for the reader to be aware from the outset that he does not provide an objective survey of the criteria for attributing MC to Cyril or to his successor John, but intends to prove that Cyril wrote MC.
