Sadly, however, both the overall structure of the book and the author's mode of presentation, which tends to list and review sources seriatim followed by rather brief concluding synopses, inhibit the full exploitation of the material., An Introduction outlining the issues is followed by a chapter reviewing the literature, taking 16 authors (chronologically, from Benno Jacob to Craig Keener) individually, briefly summarizing and (sometimes) commenting upon their respective approaches. However, significant issues raised in this literature are not taken up in the ensuing discussion.
