As a Catholic priest, Scottish by birth and deeply influenced by the French phase of the new learning, Geddes appears to stand outside the popular mould of a movement that has been widely perceived as German and Protestant in its initial impact. The academic biography of the work of Geddes published by Reginald C. Fuller in 1984 has provided an excellent, and widely used, guide to his achievements.
