The Synod was a watershed in the history of the Reformed churches, as the views of Arminius and the Remonstrants on a range of issues concerning predestination, grace, and free will were condemned, and the boundaries of Reformed orthodoxy were more closely defined., Milton has carefully arranged the material into ten parts, beginning with the political and the theological background to the Synod, which are comprehensibly given equal space.
