Summary: | The fourth edition of this classic handbook has appeared 41 years after the first. There cannot be many academics in the English-speaking world currently teaching in Theology and Religious Studies (and in other textual criticism courses as well) who did not find it on their reading list when they were a student, and it is highly likely that it was the introduction which they in turn recommended to their classes. A second edition in 1968 added a dozen pages of supplementary notes, and the third (1992) contained in addition a 38-page appendix on advances between 1964 and 1990. The new edition is a reworking of the whole. |
