Ham seeks to show that Matthew's dependence on Zechariah for some quotations and a number of allusions is a significant influence on his presentation of Jesus as a humble king and a rejected shepherd figure., An Introduction seeks to set the scene and establish a ‘research methodology’. Here the influence of Hays's work on Paul's use of Scripture is explicit and Ham clearly aligns himself with Hays's approach.
