Cet article vise à analyser la place occupée par la question religieuse dans les statistiques juives, à partir du cas des travaux de Yakov Leshchinsky, auteur incontournable dans le domaine. Bien qu'elle ne constitue pas un thème important de ses travaux, la religion demeure une préoccupation déterminante pour Leshchinsky, notamment dans les questions démographiques. L'attitude particulière de Leshchinsky vis-à-vis de de la religion et des pratiques religieuses signale aussi une certaine conception des statistiques, partagée plus généralement par les statisticiens juifs de la période en Europe orientale - comme devant être "au service du peuple juif". | ||
