Der genaue Inhalt des Dekrets ist uns allerdings nicht bekannt. Mehrere sich widersprechende Versionen sind nach und nach entstanden, und die Debatte ber die authentische Version des Dekrets erreichte ihren Höhepunkt 1902-1903, als die Zeitschriften „Les Études“ und „Revue Thomiste“ sich zu diesem Thema vüllig unterschiedlic äußerten. Mittlerweile ist es möglich, die Frage nach dem wirklichen Inhalt des Dekrets neu zu stellen dank der Dokumentation, die im „Archivio della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede“ aufbewahrt wird. Allerdings erlaubt diese Dokumentation eben keine endgültige Schlussfolgerung. Die echte Version des Dekrets ist sicherlich jene, die die Meinung der Jesuiten begünstigt und den Probabilismus nicht zensiert. Allerdings ist es der Zustand der Dokumentation des Heiligen Offiziums, der das Entstehen der verschiedenen Versionen erst begründet hat. Es geht deswegen nicht mehr darum, die Geschichte des Dekrets zu schreiben, sondern die Geschichte seiner Verwendungen in den internen Streitigkeiten des modernen und zeitgenössischen Katholizismus. Wir schlussfolgern daraus, dass die Behauptung eines auf die Geschichte der Kirche angewandten historiografischen Positivismus nicht ohne die Unterscheidung der Geschichte der theologischen und lehramtlichen Akten auskommt. | ||
| 520 | |a On june 26th 1680, after discussions between the antiprobabilist jesuit T. Gonzalez on the one hand, and the Pope and the Inquisition on the other, the Congregation of the Holy Office issued a decree regarding the teaching of probabilism. The decree was then sent to father general Oliva. The exact content of the decree is yet doubtful. Several contradictory versions emerged progressively. The debate over its authentic form culminated in 1902-1903 when catholic reviews Les Études and La Revue Thomiste quarrelled on its account. It is now possible to ask anew the question of the actual version of the decree thanks to documentation preserved at the Archivio della Congregazione della Dottrina della Fede. This documentation nonetheless does not allow a definite conclusion. The real version of the decree is certainly the one favourable to the Jesuits that does not censor probabilism. This said, the different versions emerged precisely from the state of the archivistical documentation. What matters then isn’t writing the history of the decree, but that of its uses in modern Catholicism’s controversies. What comes to light, is how the affirmation of historiographical positivism in Church History is coherent with a de-historicization of theological and doctrinal actions. | ||
