Im Mittleren Osten, nach der Reform Mohamad Alis (1832), die auf eine Modernisierung der Region abzielte, beschloss Rom zunächst die Gründung des apostolischen Vikariats von Alep, dann Ägypten, und schließlich das Patriarchat von Jerusalem. Zu Beginn dachte die Propaganda Fide lediglich an eine Aufteilung des Territoriums: der Bereich der Mission an sich blieb in den Händen der Franziskaner, mit dem einzigen Unterschied, dass einer von ihnen dazu berufen war, Bischof zu werden. In der Folgezeit war die Kongregation darum bemüht, die Macht der Franziskaner zu schmälern, um eine neue missionarische Methode einzuführen: Schulen, Waisenhäuser, Ausbildung des eingeborenen Klerus, Katechese, Verkündigung, Glaubensverkündigung von Haus zu Haus. Dieser Verhandlungsprozess zwischen Franziskanern und römischer Autorität lässt die Identität der beiden Parteien hervorkommen, ebenso wie den Austausch der Methoden, mit anderen Worten den Isomorphismus. | ||

In the middle east after the reforms of Mohamad Ali (1832), which applied the modernization of the area, Rome decided the foundation of the apostolic vicariate of Aleppo, then the vicariate of Egypt, then the patriarchy of Jerusalem. In the beginning the Propaganda thought only at the division of the territory: in the field of mission remain the Franciscans, with the only difference that one of them became a bishop. Later the Propaganda tried to reduce the power of the Franciscans in other to start with a new method of mission: schools, orphanages, formation for the local clergy, catechesis, preaching, evangelization ‘door to door’ etc. In this process of bargaining between Franciscans ad roman authority, emerges the identity of both groups and also the isomorphism from one to the other, in others words, the exchange of methods between them. | ||
