Ist die Formulierung der Anklage überhaupt gut gewählt? Auf diese Frage möchten wir Antwort geben. Als erstes wollen wir herausstellen, wie die Frage «Warum redet der Papst nicht?» entstanden ist. Als zweites werden wir unterstreichen, dass der Heilige Stuhl während des Zweiten Weltkrieges nach den Regeln gehandelt hat, die vorher aufgestellt worden waren — mit allen darin enthaltenen Unzulänglichkeiten. Drittens werden wir kurz die Umstände der Anklage gegen Papst Pius XII. Anfang der Sechziger Jahre nachzeichnen. Diese drei Etappen werden es uns schließlich ermöglichen, die fehlende Kohärenz der gegen Papst Pius XII. vorgebrachten Argumente aufzuzeigen. | ||
| 520 | |a The controversy surrounding Pope Pius XII’ attitude towards the Holocaust has taken since the publication of The Vicar (1963) the aspect of a lawsuit before the courts of history — without for such arriving at any consensus since forty years. Are the terms of accusation well chosen? This is the question that we shall answer. In the first place, by making evident the genesis of the question “Why doesn’t the Pope speak?”. In the second place, by underlining that the Holy See acted during the Second World War according to the rules she previously set down — with all its insufficient results. In the third place, by briefly retracing the circumstances of the accusations against Pius XII at the beginning of the year 1960. These three steps will finally permit us to pinpoint the incoherence of the charges against Pope Pius XII. | ||
