Summary: | This article charts the interdisciplinary impact of Paul Ricoeur’s philosophy on homiletics and offers a proposal for why Ricoeur’s work is so at home in the field of Christian preaching. This article argues that there is a kerygmatic thrust to Ricoeur’s thought that participates in the theological force of the gospel. Ricoeur’s philosophy is preaching philosophy, inasmuch as it bolsters the central tasks of preaching with philosophical sophistication and insofar as its subject matter coincides with that of Christian preaching. |
