The art and the views of some contemporary composers whose art expresses the return of the sacred, mainly Henryk Gorecki Arvo Part and John Tavener, are examined here Music by the three composers who can be said to represent the New Simplicity, an artistic trend that epitomizes the vanguard of art while expressing spiritual and religious contemporary concerns at the same time, is discussed within the philosophical background of the end of modernism and the return of the sacred.
