La perfetta conoscenza che Dio ha di ciò che ha disposto è fondamento della profezia, che, dal punto di vista della storia, appare da un lato come necessaria e, dall’altro, come aperta alla libertà, perché, in ogni caso, con la rivelazione Dio non rinuncia al suo mistero. Essendo vero Padre, inoltre, Egli può compiere l’impensabile per amore dei suoi figli. Tutto ciò si riflette nell’atteggiamento di Cristo dinanzi alla sua passione.God devises and organizes history in a complete way. Its perfect sovereignty, however, does not hinder the freedom of creatures, which is integrated into the divine plan. The perfect knowledge that God has of what he has established is at the foundation of prophecy, which from the point of view of history appears, on the one hand, as necessary, and on the other hand, as open to freedom. This because God does not abdicate from his mystery when he reveals to us and, also, because he, being true Father, can accomplish the unthinkable for the love of his children. All this is reflected in Christ's attitude towards his passion.
