| 520 | |a After more than five decades of existence, the Community of Sant'Egidio has become both a global community with local anchorage and a space that facilitates peace initiatives from both the top-down and bottom-up levels. Some of its most recent African initiatives in conflict resolution and mediation include Mozambique and Central African Republic (CAR). These two experiences in conflict zones, as elaborated in this essay, illustrate, among other things, how the Community of Sant'Egidio makes use of some of Lonergan's Insight principles. Few scholars (e.g. Kenneth Melchin, Cheryl Ann Picard, and Jamie Price) have explored this theoretical framework in relation to both conflict resolution and mediation. Two of the main contributions of this essay are, on the one hand, the role and importance of self-reflection throughout conflict situations. On the other hand, it demonstrates how central is one's mind (both conflict parties and mediators) in shaping the outcomes of violent conflicts like in Mozambique and CAR. | ||
| 520 | |a Plus de cinq décennies après sa création, la Communauté de Sant'Egidio est devenue non seulement une communauté internationale aux ancrages locaux, mais également un espace qui contribue à des initiatives de paix en intégrant aussi bien les points de vue des dirigeants que celui des membres des communautés de base. Les plus récentes initiatives africaines de Sant'Egidio en matière de résolution de conflits et de médiation, incluent le Mozambique et la République Centrafricaine (RCA). La présente recherche entend revenir sur ces deux expériences en zones de conflits. Celle-ci souhaite, notamment, montrer comment la communauté Sant'Egidio met en oeuvre certains principes du concept Insight développé par Bernard Lonergan. Elle compte également montrer que peu de chercheurs (exemples: Kenneth Melchin, Cheryl Ann Picard et Jamie Price) se sont intéressés aux liens entre ce cadre théorique d'une part et les questions entourant la résolution de conflits et la médiation d'autre part. Parmi les contributions les plus importantes de cet article, on retiendra d'abord le rôle central de l'autoréflexion durant le processus de conflit. Puis, la centralité de la faculté mentale et cognitive des parties en conflits et des médiateurs à influencer l'issue des conflits comme ceux du Mozambique et de la RCA. | ||
