Description
Summary:My question concerns the need for the profession of faith in the Rite of Reception into the Full Communication of the Catholic Church in the case of young children who have reached the age of reason. This rite requires the candidate for reception to affirm: “I believe and profess all that the holy Catholic Church believes, teaches and proclaims to be revealed by God.” Certain pastors think that young children are incapable of sincerely making this statement because they cannot understand it. Therefore, the pastors omit it or change it to something simpler. Is the use of this formula required for the validity or only the liceity of reception?
