Description
Résumé:The canonical perspective of the Cathedral Chapter according to the «Code of Canon Law» (1983) is presented in this essay, taking into account the previous codex (1917). The new norms apply the directives of the Second Vatican Council in the frame of conciliar ecclesiology. If the Chapter was first defined as the bishop’s senatus et consilium with all the consequences this could have, now this role is taken on by the Presbyterial Council. It is therefore necessary to make out-also through an adequate particular code, which applies the general laws-the instruments that nevertheless render the Chapter a special collegium sacerdotum for expressing the fraternal unity of the presbyters with the Bishop in the seat of his diocesan ministry, and for qualifying the cathedral’s liturgical life and spiritual animation.
