Σύνοψη:In spite of extensive work in the manuscript tradition by a host of textual critics over many years, there has never been so little agreement about the nature of the original text of Acts as at the moment. Following a summary of critical work on the textual history of Acts, this article addresses the necessity of the production of a critical edition of the text of Acts based upon a complete and accurate apparatus and an adequate understanding of the history of the transmission of the text. A progress report is given of the work of The International Project on the Text of Acts. Collations continue in the Greek manuscripts of Acts as well as in the lectionaries. The text of Acts in Latin, Syriac, Coptic, Armenian, Georgian and Ethiopic is being re-investigated from fresh collations. Patristic citations are being accessed through Augustine.
