Summary: | This paper deals with the 40th anniversary of the abolition of the cult of Simon, which represented the most sensational case of a supposed ritual murder imputed to the Jews of Trent. At the same time it investigates the figure of the Dominican Willehad Paul Eckert, who died in January 2006 and whose historical research lead to the about face in this regard. The author adds several hitherto unpublished particulars regarding the procedure of dismantling the cult and observations regarding his own participation in the event, seeing that in the meantime the topic has been intensely studied. |
