In them objects, gestures and sounds show a deep sense in the significance that they acquire as a symbolic element perfectly interpretable by the general population. These situations are especially evident in the takeovers, both in the transfer of goods and in the assumption of the cure of souls in an ecclesiastical benefit. This article develops the gestural and symbolic sense of the process of taking possession of ecclesiastical benefits over the homogeneous space of the diocese of Santiago de Compostela in the fifteenth century. We use mainly unpublished sources that allow us to objectify the process and study its parts, with special attention to the role played by objects (books, clothes and chalices), sounds (bells) and gestures (walk through the temple or ex officio celebration). | ||
