Summary: | Dignity and autonomy are two main notions in bioethics and they represent two main moral values and principles in the end-of-life debate. The article underscores how these notions can be translated and realized in accompanying patients with advanced disease conditions, considering particularly the French and Belgian contexts. The model of a relational autonomy and the «capabilities» approach can help to develop a care practice focused on the specific condition and needs of the patient, also from a spiritual point of view, up to the point of respecting his request to be accompanied to death.
