Summary: | In response to a request for information about the impact of the oil spill and pastors and churches in the affected area, the author traveled to Plaquemines Parish and conducted an in-depth interview with a group of pastors there. The interview revealed deep suffering, emotional pain, and the multiplication of frustrations, but also, amazingly, hope and embracing of the promises of the Christian gospel. The author was moved to respond and therefore organized a Summit of care for these pastors and churches. This article describes the Summit gathering and some of the outcomes. |
