Com diversos dados estimativos, aponta-se aqui como a imprensa se difundiu especialmen-te na Europa, já no século XV, com um aumento considerável de impressão de livros, ainda que predominantemente sobre temas religiosos e escritos em latim. Sem a pretensão falaciosa de que sem a tipografi a não haveria Reforma, este texto demonstra como Lutero e Calvino tiveram as suas obras populari-zadas, em parte, graças à mais ampla e efi caz divulgação que esta nova forma de impressão possibilitou. Concomitantemente, analisa como o princípio protestante do “livre exame” estimulou a publicação de bíblias, especialmente nos países alcançados pela Reforma. Com a proibição do ingresso de “livros hereges” em nosso país, o autor descreve como alguns livros, inclusive a Bíblia, conseguiam entrar no território nacional a despeito de ostensiva vigilância. | ||
| 520 | |a In this fi rst article, Part I (of 3 parts) Costa describes the appearing of movable type printing and how this invention was very important to the Renaissance Humanism and to the Protestant Reformation. He describes with several es-timative data how it spread in Europe in the XV century with a considerable rise of book printing, specially religious themes written in Latin. Apart of fallacious intend that there would not have Reformation without typography, Costa shows how Luther and Calvin had his works popularized due to that. At the same time, he analyses how the protestant principle of “free examina-tion” encouraged Bible publication, specially in the reformed countries. With the prohibition to the “heretic books” in our country, Costa describes how some books, including Bible, could get in despite the hard surveillance. | ||
