Description
Summary:The article takes up Lothar Lies' important publication „Eucharistie in ökumenischer Verantwortung“ (1996). Lies showed that the dialogue between catholic and protestant churches about the theological meaning of the eucharist brought about a certain convergence. The present article goes a step further in showing that result of the dialogue is not just convergence, but a consensus, albeit a consensus to be differentiated, which overcomes much of previous differences in doctrine. This consensus should be affirmed officially by the churches and should form the basis for future discussions concerning the possibility of intercommunion.
