Description
Summary:The Guardian is a figure proper to Franciscan language. As frequently happens in the birth of a term that indicates a function; it gets confused early on with other very similar terms of the Franciscan movement, such as 'minister' or 'guardian'. This fog prevents us from clearly distinguishing this word 'Guardian' from other similar ones in the writings of Francis or in the documents of the Roman Curia. This does not prevent recognition of the importance of the Guardian in the life of the Order from its origins to the present day. For this reason the study seeks to illuminate this figure in the first decades of Franciscan history through the Franciscan Sources; to deepen the important role it has in the community, even in our days, wanting to photograph it through the flash of the Franciscan charism; and to present the development it has had over time in the various Constitutions, the result of the study and decisions of General Chapters in the first centuries and in the midst of the history of the Order.
