| Zusammenfassung: | William Duranti's Speculum legatorum (c. 1278-1279): Personal experience and theoretical ref lection in the construction of a normative discourse. The Speculum legatorum can be considered the first treatise entirely devoted to the rights and duties of papal legates. William Duranti's theorizing effort not only draws on canonical tradition, but also on his own personal experience. To date, the «empirical» dimension of this treatise and its compositional circumstances have only been partially examined by researchers. Das Speculum legatorum (v. 1278-1279) von Wilhelm Duranti: Ein normativer Diskurs gegründet auf persönlicher Erfahrung und theoretischer Reflexion. Das Speculum legatorum kann als erste Abhandlung betrachtet werden, welche sich ausschließlich den Rechten und Pflichten des päpstlichen Gesandten widmet. In seinem Bemühen, die Thematik theoretisch zu untermauern, stützt sich Wilhelm Duranti nicht allein auf die kanonistische Tradition, sondern überdies auf seine persönlichen Erfahrungen als Legat. Diese «empirische » Dimension seines Traktats und die Umstände seiner Redaktion sind bislang von der Forschung allenfalls marginal abgehandelt worden |
