| 520 | |a The Complementarity Relation of CIC can. 784 and CCEO can. 589 about who Missionaries are - By virtue of Baptism all the Christian faithful take part to the mission of the Church, according to their own personal juridical condition, in three ways: a) taking part to the mission of the Church in a broader sense; b) through cooperation in a narrower sense; c) being sent to evangelize. The specific send of missionary action is specified by CIC 83 can. 784 according to which there are three necessary and sufficient sonstitutive conditions to identify missionary ad gentes: a) missionary vocation in a narrow sense; b) being acknowledged by the Church; c) being sent or entitled by the competent authority of the Church. CCEO can. 589 requires that all those, either native or non.native, which are sent to evangelize, have a specific missionary vocation, the requisite suitability and fitting human and spiritual talents. Although a canon corresponding to CIC 83 can. 784 and outlining who missionaries are has been introduced in CCEO it is evident that in an Eastern context lay faithful can be cooperators of sacred ministers with other institurionalized forms of sending and entitlement. In CIC 83 no parallel canon exists of CCEO can. 589. In an ecclesial relation and context both canons are assentially related and mutually complementary | ||
