Description
Résumé:The entire Title of CCEO is devoted to regulate the evangelisation activity of the Eastern Catholic Church. C. 585 stipulates that the sui iuris Churches and their episcopal bodies, the eparchies and each individual faithful should make it a point that the Gospel is preached in the whole world according to the norms of the Church, setting up adequate structures and forming suitable missionaries. Evangelisation is no more reserved to the RAS and bishops; rather it is the duty of all faithful, according to the norms stipulated for that and given through Congregations for the Evangelisation of Peoples and for Eastern Churches. Based on conciliar and post-conciliar sources and placed together with the other canons of the Title 14, c. 585 highlights the influence of Vatican Council II on the Church's insistence on evangelisation. Some canons outside Title 14 also help us to understand more fully the the meaning of c. 585. The fact that Catholic Church desires inculturation in evangelisation implies that there is sufficient room for communities of different cultural edentities within the Church
