The document is interpreted in the context of the Thirty years' war (1618-1648), analysing the main issues on a storiographic (the chronological foundation of the missionary dicasterium), historiological (the occasion that gave birth to the foundation of Propaganda Fide), psychological (the founder's, Pope Gregory XV., mentality) and ecclesiological (how and why Propaganda Fide was founded).
