Summary: | Unconcious emotional needs are always in play in the choiche of a marriage partner and every matrimony is constituted as a repetition of the story lived by each partner from infancy, thus offering a chance for confronting again difficult experiences not positively resolved earlier. When the situation evolves positively, these forward-directed dynamics may allow for the personal growth of the two partners thus dissolcing old emotional complications. Sometimes however, the spouses find themselves regressing to an even more problematic level of their respective pasts, which no way out, and matrimonial live becomes a painful second edition of emotional failures experienced in childhood. The fate of such a marriage is either the establishment of a permanent emotional prison or the creation of a frameword for distruction.
