AB Jam a pastor of an inner city parish. Recently, a couple who a re presenting their child for baptism approached me and asked whether the child's uncle could be the godfather. The child's uncle is a convicted felon presently incarcerated in a state penitentiary. Does canon law permit a convicted felon to fulfill the office or godparent or sponsor in the case of a child being baptized?
