Because of the altered circumstances of Jew or no vocations and a rapidly aging membership, or of increasing financial burdens, the congregation now wishes to surrender ownership and responsibility for the institution, but at the same time it does not wish to tum it over or sell it to a completely secular group because it wants the apostolic work to continue under the auspices of the Church and for it to remain a Catholic institution. They approached the diocesan bishop and suggested that he take over the institution, but he does not consider it opportune for various reasons to accept ownership and full responsibility for the institution. However, he too would like to have it continue to serve the faithful of his diocese and for it to remain a Catholic institution. What options are available under the Code of Canon Law to achieve these goals? |
