Francis Morrisey behandelt hier die Frage, welche praktischen Auswirkungen die diözesanbischöfliche Entscheidung hat, einem Krankenhaus seiner Diözese die Anerkennung einer 'katholischen Identität' zu nehmen, das heißt den Namenszusatz 'katholisch' zu streichen. Dabei erläutert er zunächst, dass Diözesanbischöfe in letzter Zeit Richtlinien herausgegeben haben, an die sich die Gesundheitseinrichtungen der Diözese halten müssen, damit sie die katholische Identität halten können. Werden diese Richtlinien nicht eingehalten, kommt es zu folgenden Konsequenzen: 1. Die Arbeit oder Einrichtung wird nicht länger im Direktorium aufgeführt. 2. Die Arbeit würde nicht länger die kirchliche apostolische Mission teilen. 3. Der Wegfall der katholischen Identität könnte die Vermögenslage der juristischen Person in Frage stellen. 4. Wenn ein religiöses Institut extra für bestimmte apostolische Aufgaben in eine Diözese gezogen ist, dieses Apostolat aber nun verloren hat, könnten sie aufgefordert werden, die Diözese zu verlassen.
