Le début du chapitre 29 d’Ésaïe évoque la ville d’Ariel, inconnue par ailleurs ; le toponyme est simplement translittéré dans la Septante. Philippe Le Moigne propose cependant de donner à ce terme, en grec, un sens différent de celui que l’on s’accorde à donner au mot hébreu.
