Varios de sus miembros han logrado ascender en la escalasocial gracias a la adquisición de riquezas materiales por medio de sus flo-recientes negocios e intentan integrarse en la sociedad conforme a su nuevostatusadquirido. Ello provocará que se distancien del grupo más numerosode cristianos que continúan siendo pobres e indigentes, lo que provocaráuna fragmentación de la comunidad. Ante esta realidad comunitaria y ex-hortando a los ricos, Hermas aboga por la integración de los diferentes es-tratos sociales en una única comunidad mediante el patronazgo, donde elrico desempeñará un servicioimportante gracias a la solidaridad que debemostrar con los pobres, especialmente mediante la limosna y la hospitali-dad... Por su parte, los pobres se especializarán en orar por los ricos, esta-bleciendo así un intercambio mutuamente provechoso. Este pragmatismode Hermas permitirá la integración de diversos estratos sociales en unaúnica comunidad sin buscar la supresión de las diferencias económicas osociales y otorgando una orientación social a las riquezas de los ricos. | ||
