Description
Summary:Until recently there has been a profound silence concerning world class spiritual writers like Jean Pierre de Caussade. This has led to a failure of discussion on the influence people like de Caussade might have on our present spiritual well-being. This critical reflection of a hospital chaplain's encounter with a patient reveals that de Caussade's life and teaching both influenced de Caussade's own time and still has something prophetic and powerful to offer today. De Caussade's theology offers great help and hope for the patient, who is unable to face what is happening to her. De Caussade's theology of ‘Self Abandonment to Divine Providence’ points to a past, present and future, held securely in the hands of God.
