Sauvagerie des ori-gines, surabondance, souillure matérielle et religieuse, connotations infernales maisaussi comiques, le nom de Προσύμνη qui, en renvoyant au mariage, permet d’asso-cier Dionysos et son amant-guide Prosymnos aussi bien avec Héra et les Prœtidesqu’avec Déméter, plus tard une forme de rivalité entre les mystères d’Éleusis et ceuxde Lerne, telles sont les pistes ici proposées. | ||
| 520 | |a The question under examination is the ambivalent reputation of the wa-ter in Lerna. The paper recalls the hydrography of the Argian territory and its myth-ical explanations, especially the pecularities of the springs and “lake” of Lerna, aswell as the myths and cults located in the Lernaean sacred wood and in its neigh-bourhood, with a critical approach of Pausanias’ testimony (II, 36, 6 - 37, 6). Wilder-ness, excessive abundance, material and religious defilement, infernal and alsocomic connotations, the name of Προσύμνη alluding to marriage andallowing to as-sociate Dionysos and his guide and lover Prosymnos as well with Hera and theProetides as with Demeter, and later a kind of rivalry between the Eleusinian and theLernaean mysteries, are the answers we try to propose. | ||
