Esta tesis exige que la obra en cuanto tal cuente algo real, esto es, que comunique algo de la experien-cia de Juan, no simplemente ideas; y exige que el protagonista, el Espíritu Santo, sea el Espíritu del Esposo, y que este sea el Jesús de Pascua. Lo que aquí resalta es la intensidad del amor de este Cristo, un amor transformante que involucra a Juan, al alma, al lector, en el misterio pascual de Jesús, y nos sorprende por su fulgor. De esta manera, Llama manifiesta lo que el Cristo resucitado hace en la Iglesia. Y también revela, de manera análoga y asombrosa, algo de la realidad misma de Jesús en su resurrección de la muerte. | ||
| 520 | |a We argue that the work of Juan de la Cruz, Llama de amor viva, is a window onto the reality of the risen Christ. This thesis requires that the work be about reality, that is, that it communicate something of Juan’s experience, not simply his ideas; and it requires that the protagonist, the Holy Spirit, be the Spirit of the Bridegroom, and that this be the Easter Jesus. What stands out is the intensity of the love of this Christ, a transforming love which involves Juan, the soul, the reader, in Jesus’ paschal mystery, and amazes us by his radiance. Llama thus declares what the risen Christ does in the Church. It also reveals - analogically and astonishingly - something of the reality of Jesus himself in his rising from death | ||
