Sumario: | Under the heading of „intelligent design“ a new wave of anti-Darwinism has recently hit the USA. Tellingly styling itself as „The Wedge“, the new movement aims at establishing a somewhat deistic model as a scientific counter model with respect to Darwin's theory of evolution. While it seems futile to continue arguing over the biblicist, fundamentalist and pseudo-scientific one-sidedness of this new wave of creationism, its critique of a restrictive naturalism and reductionism in science draws attention to a weak point in the current relationship between science and theology. Due to its epistomological consequences this fact presents a challenge to academic theology as well as to philosophy and theory of science. |
