AB Ignatius of Loyola not only gave fresh impulses for a renewal of the church, but also for catholic thought grounded in religious experience. This becomes tangible in the lives and ministry of the first Jesuits. They understood their mission in the „finding God in all things". Their universalism in faithfulness to the concrete and in the tension between transcendence and immanence gave Christianity a foundation for modernity.
