The abuse scandal has made its inadequacies plain to all, though changes in society had already made them painfully obvious. This article explores a series of learning experiences that would allow lay people to exercise their citizenship in the Church by means of various councils that are part of the structures, and diocesan synods, within which clergy have their proper place. Their vocation and their ordination place them in the Church and not simply over against it by an erroneous quasi-assimilation to Christ and powers that they can supposedly exercise as they see fit. | ||
