AB A desregulamentação dos sistemas de crenças no contexto moderno favorece a diversificação e o pluralismo religioso. Este por sua vez, provoca desestabilização e potencializa o recurso aos absolutos religiosos, não raro mobilizados para afirmar representações tradicionais de gênero e ratificar a ordem sexual vigente. Nosso propósito será o de analisar, desde uma perspectiva de gênero e com base em dados de pesquisa de campo e bibliográfica, a dinâmica de apropriação e reinterpretação da mensagem e de símbolos religiosos por mulheres religiosas. Nas sociedades modernas onde o poder de regulação das instituições religiosas é relativizado, a participação religiosa das mulheres também não possui um caráter uniforme ou único, mas se inscreve na diversidade de perspectivas e interpretações, a partir da qual estas (re)definem a sua identidade e procuram dar novos contornos às relações de gênero, seja no ambiente religioso ou secular.
AB The deregulation of belief systems in the modern context contribu-tes to the diversification and religious pluralism. This in turn, causes destabilization and enhances the use of religious absolutes, often mobilized to affirm traditional gender representations and ratify the established sexual order. Our objective will be to analyze, in a gender perspective, the dynamics of appropriation and reinterpretation of religious symbols and message by religious women. We will base our analysis on bibliographical and field research data. In modern societies the regulatory power of religious institutions is relativized, women’s religious participation has not an uniform or single character, but is set within the diversity of perspectives and interpretations, from which they try to (re)shape their identity and gender roles, whether in religious or secular environment.
