Entretanto, os trabalhos existentes ainda mantêm uma nuvem de exotismo e perpetuam mitos como a própria definição da muxe como homossexual, a absoluta tolerância da comunidade às muxes, o famoso “paraíso queer”, entre outros. Um dos objetivos deste trabalho é penetrar mais profundamente na cultura juchiteca que dá suporte à existência da muxe e nos aspectos cotidianos desta. | ||

Having also been mentioned many times as “the homosexual zapotecas”, this group currently stands out, in the international scenario as being a transgressor of the gender rules in the city of Juchitán de Zaragoza, in the Tehuantepec Isthmus, South Mexico. However, the existing paperwork still maintains the exoticism cloud and perpetuates myths such as the very definition of muxe as being homosexual, the abso-lute tolerance of the community to muxes and the famous “queer paradise”, among others. One of the aims of this article is go deeper into the juchitecan culture which provides support to the existence of muxes and to its daily aspects, including religion. | ||
