Par la construction de celle-ci, l'évêque de Néocésarée redéfinit le paradigme des valeurs civilisées en les associant à la foi chrétienne, tout en incluant parmi les "frères" les Pontiques non-chrétiens. | ||
| 520 | |a The canonical letter of Gregory Thaumaturgus, written after the invasions of Goths and Borads in Pontus in the middle of the 3rd century, provides indications about how to deal with the difficult problems of behaviour of local Christians who have unscrupulously benefited from enemy incursions, going as far as to kill their fellow countrymen. The letter also constitutes an attempt to construct a new identity related to the region and associated with Christianity. Through the analysis of the terms used by Gregory to call his recipients ("Pontic/Pontian", "Barbarian", "Christian", "brother"), the article shows the complexity of a "Pontic Christian" identity. Through the construction of the latter, the bishop of Neocaesarea redefines the paradigm of civilised values by associating them with the Christian faith, while still including among "brothers" the non-Christian people of Pontus. | ||
