Confrontée à la maladie et à la perte de son partenaire, cette femme prend à la fois conscience de sa propre finitude et de la signification qu’elle attribue à sa vie. Elle s’engage, volontairement et involontairement, dans une démarche de quête de sens jonglant entre la rupture et la redéfinition identitaire. Cette réflexion met également en relief le sentiment de solitude vécue par des proches aidant(e)s ainsi que la solidarité pouvant être ressentie grâce à la présence authentique d’une personne à l’écoute. L’article se termine par un appel à l’accompagnement humaniste et bienveillant des proches aidant(e)s. | ||
| 520 | |a This article aims to shift thinking on vulnerability to caregivers. Based on a meeting during my doctoral research, I propose a description of the vulnerability experienced by a spouse supporting her partner through palliative and end-of-life care. Confronted with illness and the loss of her spouse, this woman gained awareness both of her own mortality and the meaning she attributed to her life. Voluntarily and involuntarily, she undertook a quest for meaning that vacillated between rupture and redefinition of identity. This reflection also highlights the loneliness caregivers experience and the support they can feel when truly listened to. The article ends with a call for humanistic and benevolent support for family and informal caregive. | ||
