Summary: | Contemporary culture has been described by Charles Taylor as the culture of authenticity. The dominant traits of this «culture» are identifiable by its deviations; for example, narcissism, individualism, and self-centeredness. However, Taylor points to other tendencies that reveal a powerful moral ideal. As a consequence, he proposes a dialogue where the search for this ideal emerges and the commitment to remain true to it if one is to truly experience authenticity. Similarly and from a theological perspective, in this article we propose a dialogue with the believing quest that is immersed in such a culture. |
