Does the Church fall silent since it cannot provide a satisfying answer to the incredible high number of deaths and dying people in loneliness as well as the mental and physical suffering and the pandemic's worldwide economic consequences? Bertram Stubenrauch, professor of systematic theology at LMU Munich, shows that - apart from the problem of theodicy - the Christian understanding of God, humankind and creation is challenged by the pandemic but it also adheres to the purpose of life and human freedom considering the current intimidating experiences.
