However, myths have not disappeared from the post-modern imagination, they have rather been desacralized (they have become «low intensity myths»), deprived of the aura of absoluteness which is capable of explaining the actions persistent over time. These low intensity myths are in fact set in ordinary life, have no particular values, and their characters are no different from humans. In this article the main characteristics and repercussions in social and political life of these «low intensity myths» are considered, while showing how the presence of «high» intensity is claimed by these narratives as the only possible remedy to the apocalyptic genre that unites them.
